Abbottabad: A workshop on medical ethics, patient rights and professional responsibilities was held at Ayub Medical College Abbottabad as part of the International Medical Research Conference (IMRC’26).
Chairman Board of Governors Ayub Medical Institution, Professor Dr. Abid Jameel, stressed that medical ethics is a fundamental pillar of professional responsibility and called for a stronger ethical culture in healthcare institutions.
He said healthcare professionals must uphold integrity, compassion, patient dignity, confidentiality and informed consent while ensuring transparency and accountability.
In his presentation, Professor Dr. Abid Jameel explained the differences and relationship between ethics, moral values and the legal framework.
He highlighted the fundamental principles of medical ethics and their importance in healthcare, stressing that doctors have significant ethical and professional responsibilities in their relationship with patients.
He said healthcare professionals serve as guardians of human life and health, making high ethical standards, integrity, compassion and respect for patients’ dignity essential requirements of the profession.
The workshop brought together medical experts, faculty members and students and focused on strengthening ethical practices and protecting patients’ rights in healthcare institutions.
