Larkana: During the ongoing drama festival at the Arts Council of Pakistan Larkana, the sixth drama, Dharti Ji Danh ‘The Earth’s Lament’ was presented on Wednesday late night. Its writer was Khan Kango and its director was Mumtaz Khaskheli, while the stage actors included Reema Naz, Khan Kango, Mumtaz Khaskheli, Bilawal Khokhar, Nadir Mangi, and others, who showed the essence of their acting.
The story of the drama was based on the division of the land of Sindh into two parts, as well as the injustices committed against poor people in society. In the drama, the resistance of Sindhis against the talks, statements, and demands to separate Karachi from Sindh was shown; during this, the people of the land also stage a protest demonstration against such an act. The drama also showed that Sindh belongs to Sindhis, and that it will never be allowed to be divided into pieces; the people of the land, like Hosho and Hemo, would sacrifice their lives to protect Sindh.
On the other hand, the drama also showed that in villages, feudal lords and their children occupy the lands of poor villagers, enter their homes, and harass girls belonging to poor families. For this, an educated girl, resisting these feudal lords’ sons and their oppression, kills a feudal lord’s son. On the other side, a poor villager takes his sick son to a doctor; because he does not have the doctor’s fee, the doctor does not treat the sick child, due to which the child dies.
Meanwhile, the educated daughter of a poor man, staining her father’s honor, goes out in the darkness of night with her lover. In the end, young villagers were going to join a sit-in for the survival of the land of Sindh when suddenly they meet with an accident and all the young men die. On this occasion, a large number of city residents participated in the drama and greatly applauded the artists.
