Islamabad: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Sunday said that ensuring security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was the government’s top priority, a point conveyed to the opposition during recent talks.
Speaking to a private TV channel, the minister said that the incompetence of the provincial government had contributed to the emergence of criminal networks and others, which were creating a deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Chaudhry said the government entered the negotiations with the opposition in good faith, adding that opposition members had also demonstrated a similar willingness to engage constructively.
He said all aspects of the security situation in KP were discussed in detail during the meeting, with particular focus on maintaining law and order in the province.
He reiterated that all the points presented by the government during the meeting were focused on maintaining law and order and improving security in the province, but the KP government failed to give a positive response to those points.
