Karachi: An essay-writing competition was held at the Jinnah Hall and Library of the Quaid-i-Azam Academy among students of various colleges and universities as part of celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary year of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day on Tuesday.
The competition was organised by the Quaid-i-Azam Academy under the National Heritage and Culture Division of the Government of Pakistan and attracted a large number of male and female students.
The panel of judges comprising Prof. Muhammad Ali, Prof. Abdul Hadi and Prof. Shabnam Aman, accompanied by Quaid-i-Azam Academy’s Director Zahid Hussain Abro and Abdul Majid Farooqui, visited the Jinnah Hall and Library and reviewed the ongoing competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Zahid Hussain Abro and the judges said the great intellectual vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah required the nation to uphold his principles and play its due role in the development and progress of Pakistan.
They said Quaid-i-Azam’s political acumen, commitment to the rule of law and unwavering determination were instrumental in securing a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
They recalled that Quaid-i-Azam had given the nation three golden principles, faith, unity and discipline and said adherence to these principles could help the country overcome its challenges.
Abro said it was the collective responsibility of the nation to rise above personal interests and work honestly for the development of the country and supremacy of law.
He announced that students who secured prominent positions in the essay-writing competition would be presented with prizes and certificates at a ceremony to be held soon. Important personalities would also attend the prize-distribution ceremony, he added.
