FAISALABAD:The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has sealed 13 shops and two under-construction houses in Gulistan Colony No.2 over violating approved building plans and construction regulations.

A FDA spokesman said here on Tuesday that the operation was conducted on the directives of FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry as part of a special campaign to ensure compliance with approved building plans and building bylaws.

He said that owners of the properties had repeatedly been served notices and issued challans for violating approved building plans and relevant regulations. However, they failed to comply with the authority’s directions, prompting enforcement action against the properties.

He said that the operation was carried out by the FDA enforcement team under the supervision of Director Town Planning-I Afnan Saeed Sindhu and the FDA teams sealed 13 shops and two houses that were still under construction.

Assistant Enforcement Officer Aslam Gujjar, Enforcement Inspector Aslam Ansari, Building Inspector Moazzam Asghar and other staff members also participated in the operation, he added.

The spokesman said that FDA administration directed property owners to strictly comply with building regulations and refrain from carrying out unauthorized construction, otherwise structures found in violation of the rules could be demolished in accordance with the law.

Enforcement operations against violations of building regulations would continue in residential colonies and commercial markets under its control, no leniency would be shown in ensuring compliance with the prescribed rules, he added.
