Islamabad:The Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) has continued its four-day training on Adverse Events on Immunization (AEFI) surveillance, VigiFlow and Vaccine-Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance.
The activity was planned for strengthening vaccine safety monitoring, disease reporting and investigation procedures.
The third day of the training was held at the FDI Committee Room, with the participation of Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), immunization and VPD surveillance focal persons.
The sessions featured hands-on practice using the VigiFlow application, procedures for investigating and reporting adverse events following immunization, and the use of management information systems (MIS).
Participants were also briefed on laboratory methods for VPD surveillance and standard case definitions to improve the identification, investigation and reporting of suspected vaccine-preventable diseases.
The training aims to review the existing status of AEFI and VPD surveillance, identify priority gaps and develop practical measures to strengthen monitoring and reporting at district and healthcare facility levels.
The initiative is expected to enhance the capacity of surveillance focal persons to ensure timely reporting, effective investigation and improved monitoring of vaccine safety and vaccine-preventable diseases.
