FGEI, HEC ink MoU to expand PERN’s connectivity

ISLAMABAD:Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand the Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN)’s connectivity to the FGEI colleges.

The MoU signing ceremony — held at the HEC — was attended by DG FGEI Maj Gen Muhammad Asghar, HI (M) and Chairman HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, SI.

The HEC’s PERN project is at the forefront of providing a dependable, robust, and cutting-edge communications network for research and cooperation in fields such as grid computing, telemedicine, high-energy physics, and video conferencing.

HEC will extend the PERN facility to 27 postgraduate/ graduate institutions of FGEIs throughout the country.

This MoU will benefit FGEI students and faculty members in the same way as it benefits other higher education institutions in Pakistan.

In the end, Chairman HEC thanked DG FGEI for his efforts to enhance collaboration between FGEIs and HEC and expressed trust that it will continue in the future as well.

DG FGEI also thanked Chairman HEC and assured of fullest cooperation and support in higher education.
