Lahore: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore on Tuesday arrested 11 suspects,including seven employees of the Passport Office,three passport agents and a Punjab Police employee,during a raid at the Kasur Passport Office.
According to an FIA spokesperson,the arrested Passport Office employees include Assistant Director(AD), Muhammad Waqas,UDC Shehzad,Data Entry Operator Muhammad Ilyas,sanitary staff member Ghulam Mustafa and three security guards.
Punjab Police Constable,Roheel and three passport agents were also among those arrested.
The suspects were allegedly involved in collecting illegal additional money from citizens through collusion for processing their passports.
They allegedly lured citizens with promises of getting passports prepared on an urgent basis and charged them extra amounts.
Passports,tokens,bank challans,receipts and other evidence were recovered from the suspects,the spokesperson said.
The FIA has initiated an investigation into the arrested suspects,while raids were being conducted to apprehend other members allegedly involved in the racket.
