Immigration fraud accused granted interim bail until Sept 19

Lahore: A special court (Central) on Wednesday granted interim pre-arrest bail to a man accused of defrauding a citizen of Rs 800, 000 on the promise of sending him to Malaysia for employment.

Special Court (Central) Judge Azhar Ali Jafri heard the bail petition filed by accused Muhammad Amjad after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case against him.

The court granted the accused interim bail until September 19 and restrained the FIA from arresting him until the next hearing. The court also directed him to join the investigation.

According to the prosecution, complainant Asif Saleem, a resident of Railway Road, Lahore, approached the FIA, alleging that Muhammad Amjad had promised to send him to Malaysia and received Rs800, 000 from him. However, the accused allegedly failed to send him abroad and did not return the money.

Following the complaint, the FIA registered an immigration fraud case against Muhammad Amjad.
