FIA arrests human trafficker for defrauding citizen

Faisalabad The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad Circle arrested a human trafficker on charge of extorting money of Rs1.25 million from a citizen on false promise to send him to Canada for employment.



According to FIA officials, the agency’s Faisalabad Circle launched action against an alleged human smuggler and arrested Muhammad Samiullah son of Muhammad Ataullah Khan resident of Faisalabad.



A case vide FIR No.487/2026 dated August 27, 2026 was registered against the accused under Sections 17 and 22 of the Emigration Ordinance 1979.



The officials said that the accused allegedly received Rs1.25 million from complainant Haider Humayun son of Humayun Siddique on the pretext that he would facilitate his travel to Canada for employment.



However, according to the complaint, the accused failed to fulfill the promise after receiving the money, prompting the complainant to approach the FIA for legal action.



The FIA arrested the accused during its ongoing crackdown against human trafficking and illegal immigration-related activities and initiated legal proceedings against him.



Further investigation was under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the transaction and establish whether any other persons were involved in the alleged offence, the officials added.
