Faisalabad: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddiq said that Faisalabad’s General Bus Stand is set to undergo a comprehensive beautification and upgradation drive as the district administration moved to transform the major transport facility in line with modern urban requirements and improve amenities for passengers and transporters.
Chairing a meeting, he reviewed the proposed beautification and upgradation plan for the General Bus Stand and directed the relevant departments to adopt a coordinated strategy to make the project practical, functional and responsive to public needs.
He examined technical aspects of the proposed scheme including renovation, beautification and improvement of facilities for transporters and passengers using the bus terminal.
He directed the concerned officers to develop the renovation and beautification project while keeping in view the principles of urban aesthetics, public convenience and contemporary civic requirements.
He stressed that effective coordination and consultation among all relevant departments should be ensured during the planning process so that a comprehensive, technically sound and implementable plan could be prepared.
He said that the proposed improvements should not be limited to cosmetic changes but should also focus on creating a better environment and improving facilities for passengers and transporters.
He directed the officers to pay particular attention to planning and technical requirements so that the proposed project could be executed in an organized manner and deliver sustainable improvements at the bus stand.
This initiative is a part of broader public-welfare and beautification measures being pursued in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, with an objective of improving public facilities and the overall urban environment, he added.
Chief Engineer Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Mehr Ayub gave a detailed briefing about the proposed beautification plan and the initial measures being taken in this regard.
He also briefed the meeting about the proposed design and progress on related planning matters.
Deputy Director Development Syed Naveed Iqbal, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Muhammad Rashid, Deputy Director Engineering FDA Umar Iqbal and other relevant officers also attended the meeting.
