MULTAN: Irrigation Minister Sardar Mohsin khan lagahari said that special task force would be constituted to prevent incidents of water theft across the province in order to facilitate farmers.
Talking to reporter on Tuesday before a session with farmers to listen their problems related to irrigation and agriculture here at Rajanpur ,irrigation minister said that all possible steps were being taken to resolve issues faced by farmers.
He said”It is top priority of the Punjab government to provide maximum facilities to the farmers. He said that the major issue was water theft and its distribution which would be resolved soon.”
He said that Chief minister Punjab sardar usman Buzdar was paying much focus for the welfare of the farmers and taking all possible steps to facilitate farmers.
He said that a plan was being made to establish special task force led by a senior officer to prevent water theft.
He said”It is not possible for only irrigation department to control water theft.
Agriculture Minister for Punjab Hussain jahania Gerdezi while talking to reporter said that government giving special focus on cotton sowing and practical steps underway for the production of extra cotton .
He said that availability of fertilizers and pesticide was being ensured in the market to facilitate farmers. He said that maximum wheat production has been noticed
this year due to positive policies of the government. He said that efforts would be made to impose ban cotton import and maximum rate would be given to the farmers. He said that taxes on fertilizer and pesticides would also be reduced.
Jahania said that quality of fertilizer and pesticide was being monitored properly. He said that different teams of agriculture department were collecting samples from all dealers
for laboratory test. He said that government and Kisan Itehad were on the same page to resolve problems of the farmers.
