Quetta: Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Friday urged Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) to take concrete steps for immediately ending unscheduled load-shedding and ensure an uninterrupted power supply at adequate voltage for consumers.

He expressed these views while being briefed by QESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Mirza Aizaz Baig.

The Governor said that mere announcements are insufficient to improve the electricity supply system; instead, practical measures and their consistent implementation must be ensured.

He also urged QESCO officials to make their operational and administrative procedures more efficient and public-friendly.

The Governor emphasized the need for the immediate redressal of consumer complaints received via the ‘118’ helpline and noted that maintaining a courteous attitude toward the public is the organization’s responsibility.

He remarked that consumers who regularly pay their electricity bills are facing severe difficulties due to the adverse effects of load-shedding, low voltage, and, in particular, over-billing, it is essential to facilitate those consumers who fulfill their obligations by paying their bills on time.

The Governor of Balochistan also stressed the importance of prioritizing the settlement of outstanding dues owed to WAPDA and related entities; this would improve the overall financial and administrative performance of these organizations and alleviate unnecessary strain on the power system.

He stated that, alongside ensuring power supply to major government offices during working hours, special priority should be given to hospitals, educational institutions, and other key public centers, as their routine operations depend directly on a continuous supply of electricity.

The Governor advised the public to fully cooperate in the timely payment of electricity bills, while it is the responsibility of the government and power utilities to provide better facilities to the public, consumer cooperation plays a vital role in stabilizing the power system and improving service delivery.
