Sukkur: A grand closing ceremony of the Sports Gala was held in Sukkur on Friday under the supervision of Sports Officer Ikhlaq Ahmed Memon, on the special directives of Provincial Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar and Secretary Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar in connection with Independence Day celebrations and Marka-e-Haq.
The ceremony was attended by players who participated in various competitions and prominent personalities associated with sports.
The guests who attended the closing ceremony included Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shahzad Khan, Lieutenant Commander Yasir Kamran Khawaja of Pakistan Navy Sukkur, Chief Admin Rao Raees, Sinan Islam Shaikh, UC Chairman Yaseen Arain, UC Chairman Huzoor Bux Mirani, UC Chairman Farhan Ali Mirani, Dean of Begum Nusrat Bhutto University Sukkur Dr. Shahzad Naseem, Deputy Director Sports Mir Muhammad Kalhoro, Sports Officer Ghotki Nisar Ahmed Chandio and District Sports Officer Muhammad Ikhlaq Memon.
During the Sports Gala, exciting competitions of various games including Taekwondo, Hockey, Cricket, Kickboxing, Ring Ball, Futsal, Wheelchair Race and Tug-of-War were held, in which players participated with great enthusiasm.
Addressing the ceremony, the guests appreciated the skills of the players and said that providing better opportunities and facilities for sports to the youth is the need of the hour. Promotion of sports not only highlights the talent of the youth but also helps in building a healthy society.
On the occasion of the closing ceremony, prizes, trophies and certificates were distributed among the players who showed outstanding performance in various games, while the guests congratulated the organizers, players and the Sports Department on the successful organization of the Sports Gala.
