LAHORE:The Ministry of National Health in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) has introduced a pre-marital/marriage counseling project “Aghaz” in Pakistan.
In this regard a consultation meeting was held on Wednesday to provide awareness regarding the program. The initiative will ensure provision of guidance on reproductive health to married and newly married couples. The couples will be guided through content and virtual tools on marriage and related topics. Representatives of Population Welfare Department, Health Department and NGOs attended the meeting. The main objective of the session was to ensure that the young people lay the foundation for a strong marriage.
Various issues such as pre-acute screening, happy marital relationship, timing of child birth, birth interval, mother and child health were discussed during the session.
Addressing the session, Director General Population Welfare Saman Rai said that the Department of Population Welfare is taking vigorous measures regarding pre-marital counselling.
A regular online registration system has been introduced for the respective counselling. She said that the youth are informed about the importance of child birth and the health of mother and child with the help of proper relevant resources.
At the end of the session, an honorary shield was presented to Director General of Population Welfare Department, Saman Rai.
