IG Punjab inspects route of main mourning procession of Nisar Haveli

LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Mochi Gate and inspected the main mourning procession route of Nisar Haveli.

Additional IG Special Branch Zulfiqar Hameed, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial and other senior officers of Lahore police accompanied him.

The IG Punjab met with Agha Shah Hussain Qazalbash and other Shia leaders and reviewed the security arrangements on the main procession routes of Ashura Muharram.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana briefed IG Punjab about security arrangements.

Shia leaders, organizers of congregations and processions expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements of the Punjab Police.

The IG Punjab said that Punjab police is ensuring foolproof security to all processions and gatherings during Muharram. CTD and special branch are conducting intelligence-based operations in collaboration with security departments. He further said that CTD is keeping a close watch on anti-peace and terrorist elements du
ring Muharram.

More than 2 lakh police personnel are deployed on Muharram-ul-Haram security duty in the entire Punjab.

He said that Punjab police is in close contact with all the religious scholars, organizers of the procession and all relevant stakeholders.

The IG Punjab visited the central control room of Muharram-ul-Haram established in Deputy Commissioner Office and reviewed the CCTV monitoring of Safe City Authority and district administration cameras regarding the religious processions and majalis. He said that special control rooms have been activated in all districts of province, all activities are being continuously monitored with the help of CCTV cameras.
