Independence Day celebrated at UAD


Dera ismail khan: The Independence Day was celebrated with national spirit and enthusiasm at the University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan (UAD) on Friday. The ceremony began with Registrar Abdul Basit Khan hoisting the national flag, followed by the national anthem. A university security contingent presented a salute to the national flag as participants stood in respect and expressed their love and commitment to the country.



UAD Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Latif Gondal conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the university community on the occasion. Heads of departments, officers, faculty members, employees and other staff participated in the ceremony and joined the celebrations.



Addressing the gathering, Registrar Abdul Basit Khan said August 14 was a historic and memorable day for the nation. He said Pakistan had emerged as an independent country through the tireless struggle and sacrifices of its forefathers.



He said freedom was a great blessing and it was the collective national responsibility of citizens to value it, contribute to the country’s development and work for its security and stability. The registrar said the youth were the future of Pakistan and should contribute to national development through education, research, hard work and a positive role in society.



He said the UAD was playing its role in serving the country by promoting education, research and development in the agriculture sector. He added that such events helped promote patriotism, national unity and a sense of responsibility among young people.



Later, the registrar and university staff cut a cake to mark Independence Day, while participants exchanged greetings. The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the security, stability, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the well-being of the nation.
