Interim inquiry report on PIMS incident expected by tomorrow: Law Minister

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar on Thursday said that the interim inquiry report into the PIMS hospital incident was expected to be completed by Friday.

Talking to media, the Federal Minister said an independent inquiry committee had been constituted to investigate the incident.

He said several aspects of the PIMS tragedy would become clear by the following day, adding that no compensation could make up for the loss of human lives.

The inquiry committee, he said, would determine responsibility for the incident. Referring to Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Mustafa Kamal, the Law Minister said that he had himself offered to be held accountable.

Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar said the inquiry committee would determine the facts and responsibility, adding that accidents were never planned.

Responding to a question about the election of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he said there would be no objection if the Constitution and law of Azad Kashmir allowed the election of a technocrat.

He said political decisions were involved in such matters and there were no fixed, written rules governing every aspect.
