BAHAWALPUR:A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the University of Baltistan Skardu for cooperation in teaching and research and cooperation in tourism activities and projects.
In this regard, a special ceremony was held at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat Baghdad Al-Jadeed Campus here Monday. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Baltistan Skardu and Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). University Alumni Zafar Sindhu, Dr. Imran Rashid Chairman Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Salman Mehmood Qureshi Director IUB Dost and other officers were present on the occasion.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will take steps for the promotion of tourism activities, especially for the development of winter tourism in Bahawalpur and will cooperate in this regard at the faculty and student level. A special degree program will be launched to enhance the capacity of the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan during his visit to the IUB visited the Tourism Department of the University where he was briefed about the establishment of this new department and various activities under it especially the Bahawalpur Trade Fair on the occasion of the Cholistan Desert Rally. He was also briefed on the Archeology Project of the IUB supervised by the Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum.
