Mirpur: People on both sides of the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, as well across the world, will observe India’s Independence Day on August 15 as a “Black Day” in a symbolic protest against India’s denial of self-determination and ongoing human rights abuses.
National Events Organizing Committee Mirpur District sources told this Correspondent here on Wednesday.
Organizers announced that anti-India rallies and protest demonstrations will be held in major cities and towns, with participants wearing black bands and hoisting black flags to express their indignation against Indian imperialism.
The protest is aimed at drawing international attention to the 77-year-long dispute and the alleged atrocities committed by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, processions and rallies will be staged in all major cities, including Muzafferabad, with people from all walks of life participating to demand the right to self-determination under international norm
s and UN resolutions.
