Bahawalpur:The issuance of the Kissan Card, in line with farmer-friendly vision of Chief minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is a revolutionary step for the advancement of agriculture. These views were expressed by Muhammad Shoaib Awaisi, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and Parliamentary Secretary of the Punjab Board of Revenue, while reviewing facilities at the Kissan Card distribution center in tehsil Bahawalpur. He said, “The prosperity of farmers and the development of agriculture are special goals of the Punjab government. Schemes such as the Green Tractor, Solar Tube Wells, agricultural machinery, and interest-free loans will make farmers economically self-sufficient.”
He emphasized that the development of agriculture is the top priority of the Punjab government. “Farmers receiving the Kissan Card can benefit from billions of rupees in schemes and subsidies announced by the Punjab government. He instructed officers and staff of the Agriculture Department (Extension) to provide maximum awar
eness to farmers about the benefits of the Kissan Card so that all farmers could take advantage of the government’s initiatives.
Deputy Director of Agriculture (Extension) Hafiz Muhammad Shafiq said that Kissan Card distribution centers had been established in the offices of Assistant Directors of Agriculture (Extension) across the district, where representatives of the Agriculture Department and the Bank of Punjab are present. Desks have been set up at the Kissan Card distribution centers, where farmers are not only receiving their cards but are also being guided about the government’s agricultural schemes, he added.
