Kohat: Kohat Police on Tuesday arrested 406 alleged criminals during a month-long crackdown against narcotics dealers and illegal arms holders in September under the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal, according to official statistics.
The operations resulted in the seizure of 155 kilograms of charas, 20 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), 1.871 kilograms of heroin and 868 grams of opium. Police said the action was part of intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking and protect residents from criminal activities.
The police also recovered 37 Kalashnikovs, 326 pistols, 65 rifles and 9,604 rounds of ammunition during operations against illegal weapons. In addition, 95 proclaimed offenders wanted in various criminal cases were arrested during the month.
DPO Rai Mazhar Iqbal appreciated the performance of police personnel and said operations against criminal elements, drug peddlers and illegal arms holders would continue without discrimination. He said all available resources were being utilized to maintain peace and ensure public safety in the district.
