Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has seized 1,005 grams of ice in Charsadda and 7,174 narcotic pills weighing 4,623 grams in Peshawar in two separate operations, arresting two accused drug traffickers.
The operations were carried out under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and in accordance with the directives of Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan, who has directed the department to intensify action against drug trafficking across the province.
According to details provided by the Excise Department, the Excise Police Station Charsadda team, acting on a tip-off, stopped a motor car and conducted a search. During the search, 1,005 grams of ice were recovered, and Mohmand Khan son of Muhammad Anwar, resident of Ajoon Kalay, Shodag, Tangi, was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused at the Excise Police Station Charsadda, and further investigation and legal proceedings are under way.
In a separate operation in Peshawar, the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) squad, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration No. P-7879 Peshawar on Ring Road. During a search of the vehicle, 7,174 narcotic pills weighing 4,623 grams were recovered from behind the driver’s seat, where they had been concealed.
The accused, identified as Sardar Khan son of Saudagar, resident of Upper Mohmand and currently residing in Ramdas, Peshawar, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered at the relevant Excise Police Station, and further investigation and legal proceedings are in progress.
The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department said its operations against narcotics were continuing on a daily basis across the province.
The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining the pace of enforcement under the directives of Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan and the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
