KP needs peace, public relief, not political confrontation: Humayun

Islamabad

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Secretary General Muhammad Humayun Khan has urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to abandon the politics of long marches and protests and focus on resolving the pressing issues of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Reacting to PTI’s planned long march, he said the country could not afford further chaos and political instability, urging the political leadership to prioritise national interests over political confrontation.

He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted peace, employment opportunities and basic facilities rather than political conflicts. ‘The provincial government should focus on fulfilling its responsibilities and addressing public grievances instead of engaging in protest politics,’ he added.

Humayun Khan expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, stressing that the protection of citizens must remain the government’s foremost priority.

He said the people were facing insecurity, economic hardships and a shortage of basic facilities, requiring immediate and practical measures by the provincial government.

Humayun Khan emphasised that the province’s resources were a trust of the people and should be utilised for public welfare rather than political activities. ‘The government should take effective steps to protect businesses, facilitate traders and promote economic activities,’ he added.

The PPP leader also called for addressing the concerns and demands of government employees through serious dialogue instead of ignoring their protests.

Humayun Khan stressed the need for tangible improvements in the education and health sectors, saying that the public needed relief and better services rather than political slogans.

He said political accusations and mudslinging would not resolve public problems and urged PTI to concentrate on its governance and performance in the province.

Humayun Khan said that sustainable development, investment and business growth were not possible without peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said political differences should be resolved through constitutional means, parliamentary forums and meaningful dialogue rather than confrontation.

Reaffirming the PPP’s commitment to political reconciliation, democratic stability and public relief, he said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needed practical solutions to their problems, not further political unrest.
