Karachi: A delegation comprising students, representatives of student societies, and faculty members from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Karachi-led by Manager of the Media and PR, Saqib Abro visited Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), the alma mater of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on Tuesday.
This visit was undertaken in connection with Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day celebrations and the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
It is important to note here that the Government of Pakistan is observing the current year-2026-as the ‘Year of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’ to mark his 150th birth anniversary.
The delegation from MAJU visited the Jinnah Museum at SMIU, where they took a keen interest in the memorabilia of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah-including his academic records, his last will, and rare photographs taken during the inauguration of the college at Sindh Madressatul Islam in 1943. The students also viewed the corners dedicated to the university’s founder, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi, as well as Qazi Khuda Bakhsh, the first Muslim Mayer of Karachi Municipality and other notable alumni.
Speaking on the occasion, Saqib Abro, the Media Manager at MAJU and noted host, stated that Sindh Madressatul Islam is a historic institution whose alumni-including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Abdullah Haroon, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Muhammad Ayub Khuhro, Shaikh Abdul Majeed Sindhi and others-played a leading role in the creation of Pakistan.
During the visit, the delegation toured various sections of the main building of SMIU, where the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had received his education. They also visited the radio and TV studios.
