Karachi: Mayor of Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the occasion of 80th Independence Day.
He laid a wreath and offered fateha. On the occasion, he also offered a special prayer for the security, stability, development and prosperity of the country.
Talking to media persons at Mazar-e-Quaid, the Mayor of Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that, owing to the extraordinary leadership, vision and tireless struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Muslims of the subcontinent were blessed with an independent homeland.
The creation of Pakistan was the result of the everlasting sacrifices and continuous struggle of our elders.
He said that Independence Day is not merely a day of celebration but also an opportunity to renew the ideology and commitment upon which Pakistan was founded.
On this day, we pay tribute to our elders and the founders of Pakistan who made sacrifices for the creation of the country and reaffirm our resolve to continue playing our role in the development, prosperity and stability of our homeland.
The Mayor of Karachi said that the recent Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Trkiye is an important development in terms of mutual defence cooperation and collective security.
The agreement reflects the commitment to peace, stability and mutual cooperation in the region. Pakistan is a peaceful country and has always desired peace and stability; however, if anyone attempts any form of aggression or pursues malicious designs against Pakistan, the entire nation has the capacity to unite and give a strong response.
He said that we take pride in the bravery and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army. Our armed forces have always performed their responsibilities effectively for the defence of the country’s borders and homeland. Pakistan’s defence capabilities and its effective diplomatic voice at the international level are evidence that Pakistan is a self-respecting, dignified and responsible state.
He said that the Pakistani leadership has played an important role in effectively highlighting Pakistan’s position at the international level. In particular, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly presented Pakistan’s position at international forums and effectively conveyed Pakistan’s voice to the world regarding the IIOJK issue, regional peace, international law and the country’s national interests.
During his diplomatic engagements at the United Nations, Pakistan emphasized to the international community that sustainable peace in the region requires disputes to be resolved through dialogue and in accordance with international law.
He said that the recent Makkah Joint Defence Agreement should also be viewed in the context of Pakistan’s growing diplomatic and defence importance. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described the agreement as an important milestone in Pakistan’s history and said that it is a significant step towards further strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities and ensuring a secure and stable future for Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Trkiye.
The Mayor of Karachi said that August 14 is an extremely important day for us. On this occasion, Independence Day celebrations are held across the country and green and white national flag can be seen everywhere. The Pakistani nation has always demonstrated unity, determination and courage in difficult circumstances. Today, we must once again prove to the world that Pakistan is the country of a courageous, self-respecting and determined nation that will not bow before any external pressure or conspiracy.
He said that the foremost priority of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is to provide better municipal services to citizens and ensure the prompt resolution to their problems.
The ongoing development projects in the city are aimed at providing direct relief to the people and further improving Karachi’s basic infrastructure.
