Lahore: Horticulture Agency Lahore Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed chaired a meeting of horticulture directors to review preparations for the Independence Day celebrations across Lahore, ongoing plantation activities, beautification of green-belts, and arrangements for provision of free plants to citizens.
Additional Managing Directors Tasleem Akhtar Rao and Madam Zona Waheed Butt, along with all horticulture directors, attended the meeting. The officers gave detailed briefings on Independence Day arrangements in various zones, ongoing plantation activities, and the future horticulture and beautification plan for the city.
MD Ahmed Usman Javed directed that special stalls for free plant distribution be established in all zones of Lahore so that citizens could actively participate in Independence Day celebrations while promoting the national spirit of plantation and environmental conservation.
He directed the officers to pay special attention to the beautification and maintenance of all green belts across the city and take effective measures to make them greener, healthier and more attractive. He also instructed the concerned officers to identify suitable locations in every zone for the plantation of flowering trees.
Ahmed Usman Javed said that at least 100, 000 flowering trees would be planted across all zones of Lahore, which would enhance the city’s beauty and contribute towards providing citizens with a healthy, clean and pleasant environment.
He further directed the officers to coordinate with the administrations of housing societies for plantation along major roads and green belts, stressing that private housing societies should also be made active partners in the Green Lahore Vision.
The MD also directed the timely completion of arrangements for the Chrysanthemum Exhibition, saying that all necessary measures should be completed well in advance to make the exhibition grand, well-organized and more attractive for citizens.
Ahmed Usman Javed directed all officers to utilize available resources to make Lahore green, beautiful and visually appealing on the occasion of Independence Day and ensure the provision of a clean, healthy and pleasant environment for citizens.
