Lahore: Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC)/Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof. Dr.Jodat Saleem on Saturday said that the mission of medical experts as healers continues throughout life as the responsibilities of health professionals extend beyond treatment to providing comfort and care to humanity.
He expressed these views while addressing a farewell ceremony held at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Saturday in honour of Vice Principal(VP) and Head of the Department of Gynaecology Prof.Dr. Nudrat Sohail on her retirement.
Prof.Jodat Saleem said individuals associated with medical education never truly retire from their professional mission but continue their sacred and unending journey of healing.
He said the knowledge and extensive experience of health professionals remained a valuable asset for society and became more refined with time.
He said the guidance and training provided by senior teachers played a vital role in ensuring the professional competence of the new generation.
Therefore,continuing to benefit from their expertise and experience after retirement was an important need and a means of strengthening the healthcare system.
LGH Medical Superintendent,Prof.Dr.Faryad Hussain said Prof.Dr.Nudrat Sohail had also discharged her responsibilities as Medical Superintendent with excellence.
She had taken important steps to improve patient care and utilised available resources for the education and training of young doctors.
Faculty members also highly appreciated Prof.Dr.Nudrat Sohail’s clinical and professional abilities.
Prof.Dr.Nudrat Sohail thanked the Academic Council for organizing the ceremony and said she was leaving the institution with pleasant memories.
She said the respect she received at LGH would remain a precious asset for her.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, gifts were presented to Prof. Dr.Nudrat Sohail while prayers were offered for her good health,long life and a bright future.
A large number of faculty members attended the ceremony.
