Lahore: On the instructions of Chief Minister (CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif,a decision has been made to plant trees at waste collection points under Suthra Punjab, while wearing uniforms has also been made mandatory for the field monitoring and anti-littering staff of Suthra Punjab.
These matters came under consideration during a meeting chaired by Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique at the Civil Secretariat,here on Tuesday.
Secretary Local Government,Zaid Bin Maqsood and DG Suthra Punjab Authority,Umar Javed also attended.
All District Managing Directors of Suthra Punjab Agencies participated through video link.
The meeting reviewed the performance of Suthra Punjab Agencies in detail.
Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique directed to start plantation at Temporary Collection Points (TCPs), waste enclosures within a week saying that according to the Chief Minister’s clean environment vision,trees will also be planted around all dump sites.
He urged that the work of repairing waste enclosures and TCPs should be made a regular feature.”The number of TCPs, he went on,should be increased wherever necessary”.
The Minister said that in the next phase,work was underway on geofencing door-to-door waste collection operations.
“So far, mapping of 1992 union councils has been completed.PITB is cooperating with Suthra Punjab in the work of geofencing”, he observed.
He expressed the determination that the number of inspections of anti-littering staff will be increased from this month,September.
“There is a need for anti-littering squads to inspect neighborhoods along with markets”, he directed.
During the meeting,it was also decided to increase the pace of awareness campaign to prevent the culture of littering.
Zeeshan Rafique said that the action rate on public complaints in the digital system of Suthra Punjab program was 96 percent,which was satisfactory,however,he warned that action will be taken against those responsible for delay in redressal of complaints.
