Quetta: Member Election Commission Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi and Election Commissioner Balochistan Ali Asghar Sial on Monday paid a one-day visit to District Hub.
Upon arrival, Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta, DIG Lasbela Abdul Qayyum Patafi, DC Jamdad Mandokhel and District Election Commissioner Abdul Muqtada Baro, lawyers and civil society members received them in the Hub.
Member Election Commission Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi cut the ribbon and inaugurated the District Election Complex in a grand ceremony.
On the occasion of the opening ceremony, the Communications and Construction Department, Hub Building Section, Ex Engineer Malik Masood Raisani and District Election Commissioner Abdul Naqta Daro said in a briefing on the project that the work on the project started in December 2023.
After the Pak PWD department was abolished by the federal government in 2024, the project was handed over to the CandW Balochistan Department in November 2024.
In a briefing of government officials, it was said that the orders of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti And with the efforts of Election Commission Member Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi, the magnificent building of the Election Commission has been constructed on a priority basis in the style of a model project.
It was informed in the briefing that when the CandW department took over the project, the on-ground physical progress of the project was 40 percent.
The engineers of the Communications and Works Department completed the project in 18 months despite a low budget.
In the briefing, the officials said that the District Election Commission Complex has been constructed under the supervision of the Communications and Works Department at a cost of Rs. 270 million. The total initial expenditure on the project has been Rs. 243.515 million. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 267.995.
In the briefing of the project officials, it was informed that work on Rs. 24 million funds is yet to be done for the provision of electricity, water and other facilities under the project.
Commissioner Saira Atta, while expressing her views during the briefing, said that the current government is focusing on good governance adding that the Election Commission believed that the magnificent building of the Election Commission reflects the transparency, proper use of funds and good governance during the tenure of the current government.
Commissioner Saira Atta said that the funds approved for development projects should be spent transparently in the same way, the provision of such public facilities in public institutions is worthy of imitation by other institutions.
She said that the building of the Election Commission reflects the state of the art and added that attributed the successful project to the coordination of all stakeholders of the society, District Administration, Police and engineers of the CandW Department.
Member Election Commission Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi said that the team of the Communication and Work Department has worked diligently under the supervision of Engineer Abdul Wayab Zehri, which is commendable, four buildings have been constructed in Hub Gwadar, Jafarrabad and Mastung.
He said that the building of the Election Commission Complex Hub is the most beautiful and model in Balochistan.
He said that 40 percent women are included in the recruitment of the Election Commission on merit.
The Election Commission has expressed its expectation that the establishment of the Election Commission Complex Hub would facilitate the provision of facilities and services to the citizens.
He thanked the civil society and lawyers for their presence at the ceremony and said that he has been the President of the High Court Bar and has been associated with the legal community.
Election Commissioner Balochistan Ali Asghar Siyal said in his address at the ceremony that after the appointment of the Election Commission Member from Balochistan, Shah Muhammad Jatoi, due to his efforts, all projects have been approved in four districts of Balochistan including Gwadar, Mastung, Jaffarabad and offices have also been built in 16 districts.
He said that Chief Election Commissioner Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja has played a key role in the development projects of Balochistan.
He thanked all the regional leaders, lawyers and administrative officers for their participation in the inauguration ceremony.
