Minister chairs review meeting of Suthra Punjab

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique chaired a review meeting at the Suthra Punjab Authority office to assess the performance of district agencies across the province and discuss administrative matters. Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood and Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed attended the meeting, while Managing Directors of district agencies from across Punjab participated through video link. Minister Zeeshan Rafique said performance of Suthra Punjab agencies would be reviewed every month. He said anti-littering inspections were also being accelerated across the province.



‘During the last month, anti-littering squads conducted 22,466 visits and recorded 2,121 violations,’ he said. The minister said fines would be imposed on those continuing to litter despite the ongoing public awareness campaign. He added that the Safe City Network would also be utilized to support the anti-littering campaign in Lahore. Zeeshan Rafique further said that installation of tracking systems in Suthra Punjab loader rickshaws had commenced, which would help improve monitoring and ensure better service delivery.



The minister expressed satisfaction with the beat plan presented by the Suthra Punjab Authority. He said the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was also working on a tracking system for waste enclosures and temporary waste collection points. Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood said loader rickshaws must remain present in their respective beats for the prescribed hours and complete the assigned mileage. He warned that action would be taken against personnel performing their duties without the prescribed uniform. Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed said the weekly reports of field monitoring officers’ visits were being uploaded on the official portal. He said online invoicing had been introduced in Okara, Sahiwal and Pakpattan, while the system would soon be launched in the remaining districts as well.
