Lodhran: The body of a three-year-old minor boy who drowned in a canal near Char Nahar, Head Lodhran, was recovered after a five-hour-long search and rescue operation by Rescue 1122 teams.
According to District Emergency officer Engineer Shakeel Ahmed, Rescue 1122 received an emergency call reporting that a child had fallen into the canal while playing near its bank. Rescue teams reached the scene within approximately five minutes and immediately launched a search operation.
Five rescue vehicles, including two ambulances, a motorcycle, a rescue vehicle and a rescue boat, participated in the operation. As many as 31 rescuers, including three divers and 10 trained swimmers, took part in the search. Scuba equipment, a rescue boat, 26 life jackets and five life rings were also used.
Rescue officials said the canal was around 50 feet wide and six feet deep, with a water flow of approximately 1, 100 cusecs.
After continuous and painstaking efforts, the rescuers recovered the body of Arslan, s/o Irfan, aged three, a resident of Char Nahar, Lodhran.
The body was handed over to the heirs after completion of the necessary procedures.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Shakeel Ahmed personally supervised the rescue operation, which continued for approximately five hours and two minutes.
