ABBOTTABAD:Commissioner Abbottabad Tariq Salam Marwat Monday said that modern transportation system was the need of the hour to protect the natural environment and climate of Abbottabad, keeping in view the increasing population steps were being taken regarding traffic management as well as urban mobility in the transport sector.
To improve the transport system, a meeting of Asian Development Bank, KP Planning and Development Department and district officers was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Tariq Salam Marwat at Deputy Commissioner Office Abbottabad.
A briefing was given according to which the issues related to the improvement of transport on all major routes, road networks, traffic management, improvement of parking system, establishment of pedestrian paths and bus terminals were discussed.
Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad assured the delegation of their support for improving the traffic system and providing the best transportation to the citizens. On this occasion, he reiterated that with the support of the provincial government, Asian Development Bank, KPSP project, all possible steps will be taken by the district administration in the framework of providing modern transportation facilities to the citizens.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad thanked all the members and expressed hope that urban mobility and transport would help the citizens in improving the environment and modern travel facilities in Abbottabad.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Jibril Raza, Director Projects, Senior Urban Development Specialist Asian Development Bank, Project Officer ADB, Assistant Director PKHA, TMO Abbottabad, SSP Traffic/Traffic Warden, Deputy Manager Vasa and other officers also attended the meeting.
