Hyderabad: Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro Professor Dr. Tuaha Hussain Ali on Thursday emphasized the need to adopt creative thinking, stating that traditional ‘one plus one equals two’ engineering was no longer sufficient to meet modern challenges.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the first three-day international conference organized by the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at Mehran University.
According to the MUET spokesperson, the Vice Chancellor further said that scholars from Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Spain and other countries were presenting their research at the conference. He added that such conferences promote knowledge, awareness and creative work, and also provide an important platform for bringing together experts from Pakistan and across the world. He suggested that the conference should be held every two years.
Conference Chair Dr. Arbab Nighat said that the event includes workshops, poster competitions and a PhD symposium. She expressed gratitude to researchers and keynote speakers from Pakistan and abroad for presenting their papers, and also acknowledged the support of the Sindh Higher Education Commission.
Explaining the details of the conference, Dr. Areej Fatima said that the research papers presented at the conference will be published in various research journals. There will be a total of ten sessions in the conference and research papers by experts and researchers from 12 countries of the world have been accepted. A total of 189 papers were received, out of which 61 were selected for presentation.
Addressing the conference, Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad Hasnain Raza said that he was an alumnus of Mehran University and got his degree in electronics engineering. He highlighted the importance of technology in the modern era.
The inaugural session was also attended by Pro Vice Chancellor MUET Professor Dr. Aneel Kumar, Registrar Professor Dr. Nasrullah Pirzada and deans of various faculties.
