Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has announced 24/7 M-Tag services at two major locations, while two additional centers will remain open until 12 midnight, aiming to ease access for vehicle owners as enforcement approaches.
The Directorate General of Excise and Taxation has decided to extend M-Tag service hours across key points in the federal capital to facilitate citizens. The decision introduces round-the-clock M-Tag issuance at two major locations, while other centers will operate with extended hours to ensure wider public access.
According to Director General Excise Irfan Memon, M-Tag facilities will now be available 24 hours a day at the 26 Number Chungi and the 17 Meel Phulgran Toll Plaza. These locations have been selected due to high traffic flow and frequent public demand, allowing vehicle owners to register their M-Tags at any time of the day or night.
In addition to the 24/7 service points, M-Tag counters at Kachnar Park in Sector I-8 and F-9 Park will remain operational until 12 midnight. These extended hours are intended to accommodate citizens who are unable to visit service centers during regular working hours.
Irfan Memon stated that the decision was taken solely to facilitate the public and to ensure smooth implementation of the M-Tag system in Islamabad. He said that extended service hours would help reduce congestion at counters and provide flexibility to vehicle owners.
The M-Tag system is mandatory for vehicles using major entry and exit points of the federal capital, particularly toll plazas. Authorities have repeatedly urged citizens to complete registration to avoid inconvenience once strict enforcement begins.
Officials noted that many citizens had requested longer service hours due to work schedules and long queues during the day. By introducing 24/7 operations at two locations and late-night services at others, the department aims to address these concerns.
The Excise and Taxation Department has advised vehicle owners to carry required documents when visiting M-Tag centers to ensure timely processing. Officials also urged citizens not to wait until the last moment, as increased turnout is expected in the coming days.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to improving public service delivery and said further steps may be taken if public demand increases. Citizens have been encouraged to take advantage of the extended hours to complete M-Tag registration without delay.
The move is expected to ease pressure on existing facilities and help ensure wider compliance with M-Tag requirements across Islamabad.
