Islamabad

Islamabad: Director General National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi paid a surprise visit to the agency’s central helpline 1799 at NCCIA Headquarters, where he personally received calls from citizens and listened to their complaints about cyber crimes.

An NCCIA official told reporter on Friday that during the visit, the DG sat at the helpline operations centre, spoke directly to complainants and reviewed their issues related to online scams, cyber harassment, financial fraud and social media.

He also checked the performance of helpline staff, the process of receiving and handling calls, complaint registration and the initial legal guidance provided to citizens.

The DG Rizvi received a detailed briefing on the complaint follow-up system and the process of forwarding complaints to the concerned NCCIA circles for further action.

Speaking on the occasion, Rizvi said helpline 1799 was an important link between NCCIA and the public, providing timely assistance and guidance to victims of cyber crimes.

He said the helpline had been established to ensure that citizens facing cyber crime problems could receive help and guidance through a single phone call.

The DG Rizvi said public trust was NCCIA’s most valuable asset and stressed that no call received on the helpline should be ignored or treated as unimportant.

He directed the helpline staff to handle every call with responsibility, confidentiality and professionalism.

Rizvi also instructed the staff to treat complainants politely, respond quickly to every complaint and forward cases to the concerned investigation wings without delay.

He said timely action on complaints and better public service should remain the top priorities of the helpline staff to ensure quick relief for citizens affected by cyber crimes.
