Open court held in Lakhi to address public complaints on Ombudsman’s directives

Sukkur: On the directives of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Regional Director of the Ombudsman Office Sukkur, Ahmed Ali Qureshi, on Monday held an open court at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office Lakhi to hear public complaints and address them.

The open court was attended by the Assistant Commissioner of Lakhi, officials of various government departments, and a large number of citizens. Employees and members of the public presented their complaints and highlighted issues relating to different government departments.

During the session, citizens raised concerns regarding the Education, Police, Public Health, Municipal, Health, Irrigation and Revenue departments, and apprised the Regional Director of the difficulties they were facing.

Ahmed Ali Qureshi listened carefully to the complaints and directed the concerned officials to resolve all genuine public grievances in accordance with the law and applicable rules at the earliest. He stressed that timely action was necessary to prevent citizens from facing unnecessary difficulties and inconvenience when dealing with government offices.

Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi said that the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh provides services for the redressal of public complaints free of charge, and citizens do not need to hire a lawyer to lodge a complaint.

He said that any citizen could submit a complaint on plain paper at the office of the Regional Director, Ombudsman Sukkur, or file an application online. He added that the facility was aimed at making the complaint process simple and accessible to the public.

Qureshi further said that the open court was organized at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office in Lakhi on the directives of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh to listen to citizens’ problems and ensure their immediate resolution. The initiative, he said, was intended to bring the grievance-redressal mechanism closer to the people and address their issues at their doorstep.
