Peshawar: A meeting on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Resilient Irrigated Agriculture and Livelihoods Development Project was held under the chairmanship of Adele Shah, Secretary, Planning and Development Department.
The meeting reviewed the project’s preparedness. Adeel Shah directed officials to expedite all necessary actions for early implementation. Shahzad Mehboob, Chief Economist, Chief IDS, and other relevant officials attended.
The ADB-funded project is expected to benefit over 50,000 farm families through improved irrigation, modern inputs, and training. It will also create livelihood opportunities for women and rural youth. Officials said the project would boost food security and climate resilience in vulnerable districts.
The Secretary stressed timely completion of all formalities.
The Chief Economist confirmed the project’s strong economic viability. Authorities have started land acquisition and community mobilization, with funds expected this quarter and physical work to begin in early 2027.
