Lahore: Punjab Police have resolved more than 78. 000 public complaints received through the 1787 IGP Complaint Centre during the current year.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson. significant progress had been made in resolving complaints of various categories. These included 37. 527 complaints regarding registration of cases and 17. 638 complaints concerning delayed investigations.
Similarly. 6. 020 complaints related to police services and 17. 754 departmental and other complaints had been resolved. the spokesperson said.
Furthermore. 3. 908 complaints regarding the arrest of accused persons. 5. 999 complaints related to recoveries and 3. 749 complaints concerning faulty investigations had been disposed of.
The spokesperson added that 1. 819 complaints regarding cancellation of false cases and 1. 336 complaints related to change of investigation had also been resolved.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem said the complaints received from citizens were being addressed within the prescribed timelines in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). He said that district police officers (DPOs) were personally monitoring complaints received through the 1787 Complaint System to ensure their prompt resolution.
The IGP urged citizens to contact the 1787 IGP Complaint Centre without hesitation in case of any complaint against police officials and avail the mechanism for prompt redressal of their grievances.
