Gujrat: Police arrested two main suspects within hours after a video showing the assault of a young man went viral on social media in the jurisdiction of Saddar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station. According to a police source, the incident occurred near Petrol Pump on Kharian Road where Yasir Shaukat, a resident of Nandpur, was allegedly attacked with sticks over a previous dispute. District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Faisal Shahzad took immediate notice of the incident and directed the SHO Saddar Jalalpur Jattan to register a case and arrest the suspects.
On the complaint of the victim, a case was registered at Saddar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station. A police team, led by SHO Inspector Sajjad Azam, launched a special operation and arrested two main suspects, identified as Asghar Ali, son of Muhammad Hussain, and Ali Hassan, son of Zafar Iqbal, both residents of Nandpur. Police said interrogation of the arrested suspects was underway, while raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.The DPO said violence against citizens and other unlawful acts would not be tolerated, adding that legal action would be taken against all those involved in the incident.
