PESHAWAR:In an ongoing operation against power pilferers and defaulters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the teams of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) so far removed over 6607 direct hooks, and registered more than 2313 cases in different police stations.
The spokesman of PESCO said here Wednesday that on the request of PESCO 540 people had been arrested by the police while applications had been submitted for filing cases against another 5385 electricity pilferers.
During the crackdowns, the PESCO teams removed 1456 direct hooks in Peshawar Circle, 1290 in Mardan Circle, 920 in Khyber Circle, 715 in Swat, 689 in DI Khan and 633 in Bannu Circle.
Apart from this, many direct hooks were also removed in Abbottabad, Swabi and Mansehra circles.
The spokesman said that more than Rs 29.4 million fine had been imposed on the pilferers and measures were being taken for recovery of the amount from defaulters.
