Police granted two days physical remand of former KP deputy speaker

PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court here on Tuesday handed over former deputy speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mehmood Jan in police custody on a two days physical remand in cases of murder and attempted murder.

Mehmood Jan, who was arrested on murder and attempted murder charges was presented before the anti-terrorism court judge where the accused was granted a two days physical remand on police request.

During the hearing, the investigation officer told the court that the accused was arrested on charges of killing a man and injuring another over a property dispute in Regi area.

The court was further informed that a case of murder and attempted murder was registered against the accused at Regi police station, Peshawar. He urged the court that physical remand of the accused was needed for interrogation.

The court after hearing the arguments, allowed two-day physical remand of the accused to the police.
