Chiniot: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched a major crackdown on adulterated and substandard food in Chiniot, inspecting 140 food businesses and suppliers and imposing Rs. 200,000 in fines on 18 food points.
Officials checked around 21,000 litres of milk in 21 supplier vehicles and destroyed 200 litres that failed quality standards. They also discarded 130 kg of substandard ice lollies and cooking oil.
The PFA teams found poor sanitation, insects and missing medical and training certificates at several food businesses. DG Punjab Food Authority Mansoor Ahmed said strict action against food adulteration would continue and urged citizens to report complaints through helpline 1223.
