Lahore: The Punjab government has merged the Punjab Forensic Science Agency into the Punjab Forensic Science Authority under the Punjab Forensic Science Authority Act 2025 and initiated the process for appointment of a new director general of the Authority. According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, a high-level selection committee headed by the Chairman Planning and Development Board would be constituted to select the most suitable candidate in accordance with the criteria laid down in the law.
The spokesperson said the former Punjab DG Forensic Science Agency, Dr Muhammad Amjad, had stepped down to ensure a transparent, fair and impartial process for selection of the Authority’s DG. A farewell ceremony was held in honour of Dr Muhammad Amjad, which was attended by Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid, Additional Secretary Home (Police) Kanwar Anwar Ali Khan, Additional DG PFSA Imran Ali and other relevant officials. The spokesperson clarified that Dr Muhammad Amjad could also apply for the post of DG Punjab Forensic Science Authority along with other eligible candidates. Meanwhile, Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid had been given additional charge of DG Punjab Forensic Science Authority as an interim arrangement until appointment of a permanent DG, the spokesperson added.
