Rickshaw Tragedy: All 15 bodies recovered from Muzaffargarh canal


Muzaffargarh: Rescue teams recovered the bodies of three more children from Muzaffargarh canal on Monday, completing the search operation for all 15 people who had gone missing after a rickshaw carrying wedding guests fell into the canal a week ago.



With the recovery of the three bodies, all 15 victims of the Kot Addu canal tragedy have now been retrieved, Rescue 1122 sources said. The eight-day search and rescue operation has concluded.



The tragedy occurred on August 10 in the Sanawan area of Kot Addu, when an overloaded rickshaw carrying wedding guests went out of control and plunged into the Muzaffargarh canal.



Twenty-six members of the same family were returning home after attending a wedding when the rickshaw fell into the canal at Sanawan. Eleven people were rescued alive, while 12 children and three women went missing after drowning.



Following an eight-day rescue and search operation, the bodies of all 15 victims, including 12 children and three women, have been recovered from the canal, and the Rescue 1122 search operation has been completed.



The operation, which began on August 10, involved 52 swimmers, 15 divers, 67 rescue workers and eight rescue boats.
