LAHORE:Showing excellent performance, the Sahiwal division with 24 medals including 15 gold medals, five silver and four bronze medals emerged triumphant in the First HED Inter-Collegiate Sports Championship, which concluded here on Monday.
The event was organised under the aegis of Higher Education Department (HED) and with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab (SBP).
Meanwhile, Punjab Sports Board Director General Dr Asif Tufail has said that the board provided technical support and other facilities for smooth conduct of the First HED Inter-Collegiate Sports Championship. “This event has produced several new athletes which is a great encouragement for emerging players,” he added.
He said that educational institutions are nurseries of sports talent and Sports Board Punjab is taking effective measures for tracing talented male and female athletes from educational institutions. “Sports Board Punjab is preparing a two-year sports calendar under which new talent will be unearthed at tehsil, district and division level,” he explained.
Dr Asif Tufail stated that we are preparing our own team of Punjab province in every sport discipline so that our players can participate in national and international competitions and earn laurels for the country. He also congratulated all the players who won medals in the First HED Inter-Collegiate Sports Championship.
