Shangla University seminar stresses youth role in promoting peace

Peshawar:The University of Shangla hosted a seminar on peace, security and national stability, with speakers stressing the need for greater awareness among young people to counter extremism, misinformation and drug abuse.



Deputy Commissioner Shangla Abdullah Shah and District Police Officer Ikramullah PSP addressed the seminar, which was attended by university faculty, administrative officials and a large number of students.



DPO Ikramullah said a peaceful environment was essential for educational and economic progress, adding that students could contribute to national stability by promoting tolerance, mutual respect and unity.



He said the challenges of terrorism and extremism required a comprehensive response based not only on security measures but also on education, awareness and responsible citizenship. He particularly urged students to verify information before sharing it on social media.



The DPO also briefed participants on measures to prevent drug abuse and highlighted the importance of cooperation between law-enforcement agencies, educational institutions and communities in addressing the issue.



He said Shangla Police was committed to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens, adding that lasting peace could be achieved through close cooperation between the police and public.



The university administration presented shields and certificates of appreciation to the deputy commissioner and DPO for their contribution to peace promotion.



Certificates were also distributed among students in recognition of their outstanding performance. The seminar concluded with a peace walk, with participants expressing their commitment to promoting harmony, national unity and stability.
