SARGODHA:Social Welfare Department Divisional Director Shakira Naureen visited a blood transfusion centre, set up by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) Safe Life Organisation.
Deputy Director Social Welfare Zeba Andleeb also accompanied her.
NGO’s president, Tanveer Ahmed, briefed the visiting officials. He said around 450 children with thallasemia were registered in tehsil Sargodha and tehsil Bhalwal under the NGO so far, and every Friday 35 to 40 children were provided blood.
The director said to protect children from this disease “we have to work on a collective basis.
She said that in Pakistan there are more the 10 million thallassemia patients and 15 million major thallasemia affected children.
