Bahawalpur: The kidney transplant facility has been restored at the Kidney Centre of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where a successful kidney transplant was performed on a patient from Bahawalnagar under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Transplant Programme.
The transplant was carried out through the efforts of Medical Superintendent Bahawal Victoria Hospital Dr Abdul Rehman Chandio. A team of medical experts led by Dr Abdul Mannan performed the procedure successfully. Expressing gratitude for the successful transplant, the patient thanked Dr Abdul Rehman Chandio, Dr Abdul Mannan and the entire medical team. He said the availability of free kidney transplant services offered a major source of hope for patients across South Punjab who could not afford such costly treatment.
According to the hospital administration, comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure the regular continuation of the kidney transplant service. The facility is expected to benefit eligible patients from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran and other districts of the region.
Under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Transplant Programme, the Punjab government has announced that it will bear the cost of kidney and other organ transplants for eligible patients. The initiative aims to make otherwise expensive transplant treatment accessible to deserving patients.
