Rawalpindi:Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi has intensified anti-smog, anti-littering and cleanliness operations across the city on the directives of Managing Director Rana Sajid Safdar, conducting 340 inspections and issuing warning notices to 40 people for violating cleanliness regulations.
According to the agency, its anti-littering squad inspected cleanliness arrangements in various areas, including Waris Khan, Murree Road, Noora Road in Shakrial, Tipu Road and Saidpur Road.
Alongside the cleaning operations, the agency’s communication team is conducting an awareness campaign to educate citizens, shopkeepers and students about proper waste disposal, avoiding littering on roads and streets, and the harmful effects of burning garbage.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi Rana Sajid Safdar said that, in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, cleaning operations and public awareness activities were being carried out effectively to combat smog and provide citizens with a clean environment.
He said cleanliness was directly linked to reducing environmental pollution and preventing smog, adding that all relevant teams had been directed to remain active in the field.
He further said that burning garbage and dumping waste in open spaces increased air pollution. He urged citizens to act responsibly, cooperate with sanitation staff and dispose of waste at designated places.
The communication team was also encouraging citizens to play their part in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment through public awareness initiatives, he added.
Rana Sajid Safdar said a clean Rawalpindi and a smog-free environment could only be achieved through collective efforts. He directed the anti-littering squad to fulfil its responsibilities by improving cleanliness standards, identifying violations and addressing public complaints to ensure a healthy and clean environment for citizens.
